Hey guys, today I’ve got swatches of the entire Essie Fall 2018 Collection to show you!
The collection is based around fall in NYC and I have to say, when I saw this collection I was instantly smitten with it, there wasn’t a shade I didn’t like the look of, but do they live up to expectations? Take a look below to see all the shades close up and my thoughts on them.
It Takes a West VillageĀ
This is a beautiful rosey mauve pink that is perfect for Fall. It’s muted and soft and a nice transition shade from summer to winter. It applied smoothly and perfectly opaque in two coats. Shown with two coats and a topcoat.
Fall for NYC
To me, this colour screams Fall. It reminds me of the colour the leaves turn in the trees at this time of year and there’s something so warming about it. I’ve wanted a colour like this for a while so I was super happy when it applied to opaque perfection in two coats. Shown with two coats and a topcoat.
Stop, Drop and Shop
To me, this colour is the big sister to It Takes a West Village. It’s still in the pink family, but much more deep and rich in tone. Once again, opaque in two coats. Shown with two coats and a topcoat.
Say it Ain’t Soho
This was the polish I was most excited about in the collection and it didn’t disappoint! A beautiful burnt orange packed with shimmer, perfect for Halloween mani’s and generally if you want to add a pop of colour to your Fall attire. Shown with two coats and a topcoat.
Empire Shade of Mind
Considering that NYC is often called the Concrete Jungle, this shade fits the theme brilliantly. It reminds me of all the steel work that can be seen around the city, with its deep smokey grey/silver tones. This formula was slightly thicker than the others which meant I could get away with one coat. Shown with one coat and a topcoat.
Booties on Broadway
I’m a sucker for a blue polish so I knew I’d like this one from the off. A great formula, applied smoothly and gave great coverage. Shown with two coats and a topcoat.
Overview
Overall, I think this is one of the best collections I’ve seen. I love all of the colours and I think they work nicely together as well as tie in well with the NYC theme.
The formula is super consistent, they all applied really easily and weren’t gloopy but still gave a good amount of coverage, with a second coat only really needed to even out the odd spot.
I’ll definitely be wearing these shades on the regular, regardless of the season, and they’ve absolutely made me much more fond of Essie polishes – they could be my new favourite!
