Hey guys, today I’m reviewing the February 2018 MeeBox and showing you the nail art I created with it!
This month’s theme was Look Book and was curated by Nails by Mets to be in-keeping with the latest looks from London Fashion Week.
In this box we got three polishes, two glitters and a polish remover so let’s take a closer look!
This polish is a light blue, darker than a baby blue but not dark enough to be a true blue. Sadly, this polish is quite streaky and takes at least three coats to get to full opacity and even out the streaks.
Next up we have a classic rose gold chrome polish. Super easy to apply and opaque in just one coat – this one would be great for stamping!
This polish is a purple based polish packed with purple and silver glitter. It took two coats of sponging this polish onto the nail to get it opaque but it was super pretty when finished.
MeeBox Glitter in ‘Naomi’ and ‘Claudia’
Naomi is a deep blue glitter whilst Claudia is an orange based glitter with flecks of yellow glitter peppered through. I’ll be honest, I’m not a fan of loose glitters so I’ll be passing these on!
MeeBox Nail Polish Remover
I’ve had a few bottles of this now and I find it best for clean up around my cuticles once I’ve finished nail art. It’s acetone free and has a raspberry and grape scent which is pretty strong so might not be a favourite for those sensitive to scents.
For the nail art, I started with a base of Pool Party – three coats to get everything even and opaque. To help with the drying process before the next stage I gave the nails a coat of Seche Vite.
I then grabbed a long, slimmed bristled nail art brush and Ball Gown and dragged the polish along the nail, starting from the base, to create the ‘waterfall’ nail art effect. I repeated with Let’s Go Party and then gave everything a final coat of Seche Vite.
This box was a bit of a flop for me if I’m honest. I’m super happy to see MeeBox collaborating with nail artists and giving them such a great opportunity, but the items included in this box just weren’t my cup of tea!
The only polish I would use regularly is iZ Beauty Ball Gown as I’m not a massive fan of the Annika polish colour and the fact that it takes two layers of sponging for Let’s Go Party to be opaque would put me off using it in the future.
As I said before, I’m not a fan of loose glitters, I’d much rather just use a good glitter polish, so these aren’t something I’ll be using although the colours are beautiful.
Overall, this is probably one of my least favourite boxes but I’m hoping next month’s (of which the theme is doughnuts!) will be much more up my alley!
